Only down side & it's a big one - it ONLY works with Internet dEstroyer !!

This product is a real disappointment due to its reliance on Microsoft proprietary software. In order to view the video output online not only are you restricted to using internet explorer, but you also need administrative privileges on this machine in order to correctly configure the security settings of the activeX components.

As a result this product is useless. Most properly configured office PCs do not grant users admin access. Also as described earlier its not possible to get snapshots since microsofts proprietary ASF video format is used... -- Locked into proprietary formats

It was a smart piece of kit when I bought it. It's quite self reliant, sitting their quietly working. Image quality is average. Configuration is pretty good - i.e. you can set alternative ports so you can traverse your office firewall...

However, the motion detection has never worked for me and its clear there are no plans to issue a fix since it's been so long since the last firmware version.

I'd like to recommend it but frankly, in my experience, it doesn't do everything it claims. -- Motion detection problems

I'm sure some pople have had problems, but the camera does what it says it does.
The picture is fine for basic use, although poor in low light. I have bought three of these cameras that I have had running over the net via a number of different routers (not just linksys).

I have struggled on and off getting the smtp (send email) when motion is detected to work. considering i bought it for security reasons this is a major failing. It does not have an ftp option either to collect video footage.

To get the smtp on motion detect working I have upgraded firmware, logged a support call (which was a waste of time), and more recently delved in for more diagnosis. I checked all my smtp settings using a locally installed smtp tester application, and I received the test email fine. Hence, the problem is not my ISP SMTP server. I also turned on logging for all outbound traffic from the webcam to see if it was sending - it was not.. traffic was logged for me watching the cam across the internet, but no smtp (port 25) was logged, so either the motion detect is failing (i have set it to maximum) or the smtp is failing. Either way I am now giving up and going to buy another brand. This one is going in the bin. -- easy setup, limited features, limited support, smtp fails
